In 1996, All Trades USA was created to help people with any kind of skills or licensed trade profession to connect with customers looking for good help with home or business improvement projects and maintenance contractors, and hopefully at reasonable prices. All Trades USA, Inc became a corporation in 1997.

From 1992 until around 2014, tens of millions of people all over the country were losing jobs due to offshore hiring of lower wage employees and manufacturing plants shutting their doors. It was difficult to get and keep a decent job in their chosen professions, with horror stories of 300 or 400 computer professionals and office workers applying for just one job opening and unscrupulous companies laying off people just as they were about to become eligible for retirement pensions. To make matters worse, there weren’t many people who had enough funds to hire skilled, licensed trade professionals who were still charging high prices, and those who had plenty of money were profiting as much as they could by not hiring help unless additional help was critically needed. Now, despite rich people in the investment class increasing their wealth by 25% in 2019, things aren’t much different for working class people today.

Unemployed white collar and blue collar workers laid off from corporate jobs or manufacturing jobs don’t all have backup trade skills. Many can not afford to pay a mortgage, buy food, buy prescribed drugs necessary for their health and well-being, and pay their bills with minimum wage retail jobs, or two, or three.

However, everyone can do work; even those people without trade skills as their backup… even if it is to work as temporary laborers or doing yard work and raking leaves. Everyone can do something; even if it is as a temporary employee or apprentice, or to work for themselves and contract with the few white collar professional people who have more money than time or particular skills.

The problem was how to get these people connected with each other. As bad as things were, this was not the only problem.

This was, and still is, a time when predatory scammers, identity thieves, fraudulent businesses, and stock investment scams became more and more prevalent.

So, the problem was how to get people who could do work, and have good reviews, together with those who need, and can afford, their services. In the All Trades USA business model, they negotiate with each other and contract for services. If $15 per hour is too low for a job, a worker doing labor could negotiate directly with the home owner or business owner for more reasonable pay. While there are some customers who can afford to pay more, some misers still want to pay everyone much less than a minimum cost of living per hour, but there are also some home owners and businesses who will gladly, and generously, pay extra for great service. It is always a matter of negotiation payment, terms, and establishing expectations between the customer and the service provider…or either side can walk away from a deal.

If up-to-date licenses for a skilled trade are required for a particular job, with All Trades USA, service providers have a place to post their license numbers and credentials.

Most important of all are customer reviews. All Trades USA was aware that many people could fraudulently pose as a customer and create fraudulent glowing reviews. Business rivals could fraudulently smear their competition. So, way back in 1997, we came up with the concept of verified reviews as being a very necessary policy.

As of December 29, 2019, ALL TRADES USA is only posting information about service providers we have personally done business with, in the service areas of Raleigh, Durham, Wake Forest, Cary, Knightdale, Youngsville, Wake County, Durham, Durham County, Louisburg, Franklin County, and Granville County.
